Ephesus' African American Read-In February 2018

We would like to invite you to be a guest reader as part of Ephesus' participation in the National African American Read-In in which guest readers read books by Black authors to a classroom of students. We will provide age appropriate books to choose from in the media center and please plan to come 15 minutes before your time slot to sign in the main office and choose a book in the media center. Most time slots are 30 minutes long, but depending on the grade level and book it may not take the entire time to read the book to the students.

We welcome readers from any race or background and readers can be staff, parents, relatives, community members, etc. If you know someone who might enjoy this opportunity please share the sign up with them or let me know their contact information.

We welcome your participation and know all participants will enjoy! Thank you for considering sharing the gift of your presence and time with the students and school.

For more information about the National African American Read-In please visit: http://www.ncte.org/aari.

Take care, Marne Meredith on behalf of Ephesus' Black History Month Planning Committee

2. Did you know that Ephesus has Co-located Mental Health Services?  Carolina Outreach agency (https://carolinaoutreach.com/) sends a therapist to the building a couple of days a week to see students whose parents have established the service with the assistance of school staff.  They accept medicaid, health choice, certain types of Blue Cross Blue Shield and some other private insurances and there are options for student who do not have insurance to be seen as well.  If you have wanted to seek counseling/therapy for your child and may be interested in this service for your child please contact the School Counselor Ashley Sherman or School Social Worker Marne Meredith.  There are forms to fill out and then the agency contacts the family to schedule an intake before services can begin.
