In Banke District, Nepal and Son La, Vietnam, our local partners are working day in and day out to improve health and nutrition for mothers and children. Today, we want to invite YOU to join us as a partner for maternal and newborn health.
As our partner, you will boost the capacity of community health workers to support young mothers, like Arogya, in rural areas. Arogya lives with her husband and extended family in a hard-to-reach village. Her first pregnancy was very difficult. She did not have access to the health services she needed, and sadly her baby was stillborn.
A community health worker from International Nepal Fellowship, our local partner, first met Arogya during a visit to her village. Arogya was pregnant for the second time. They noted she appeared weak and tired--and knew that without support, Arogya and her pregnancy could be at risk, again.
The community health worker spoke with Arogya and her mother-in-law and encouraged them to attend a mother's group meeting, together. They agreed. During these meetings, Arogya and her mother-in-law got the information they needed to keep Arogya safe and healthy during pregnancy and birth.
For women like Arogya, community health workers can be the difference between life, and death. Their knowledge is essential for the health of women and children in rural areas. With your support, these community health workers will be able to reach more women in even the most remote locations.
