We are loving our new window display at Fleece, the fabulous new items made by our Artists, and we're sure you'll love it too.    From rag rug pictures to wraps, silk scarves, steel hearts and cards, we have something for everyone at Fleece.    New items are added each day.  Also if you pop in, you'll be welcomed by one of our artists.  We are hoping to post a list soon of the what days each artist will be in the shop as many of the, carry out their craft whilst manning the desk. It's well worth a visit to see and of course ask questions.

Don't forget,
if you still have a
10% voucher to use,
it is only valid for this February, so don't miss out.
6 Months!
It has flown by!   We can't believe that last week we celebrated being open for 6 months, and what a fabulous time it's been.   From an initial idea of 5 friends, we have now built Fleece into an Artists co-operative that we're all proud of.   In total we have 20 member artists and 9 associate artists, all from the Yorkshire Dales or just beyond.
What inspires me...
by Louise Curnin

I live in Wensleydale, the view from my bedroom window is the iconic Pen Hill and my drive to work is over the wild Grinton Moor to Swaledale so the sights and sounds of the Dales fill my senses every day. How could I not be inspired by that.  I love the distant views, mostly translated into the landscape scenes on my bags and scarves.

Whenever I see anything with wavy horizontal lines, no matter how abstract, my mind always wants to turn it into a landscape or a seascape. When I started making felt and learning how you can part blend different colours I always saw a landscape forming in the fibres when they were horizontal or stormy or sunny skies if vertical depending on the colour scheme. You know like those moments when the cloud breaks and the sun streams through like a spotlight. My first play with a drum carder, a fibre blending machine, was a revelation as I could create landscapes in front of my eyes which is where the idea for my landscape bags and scarves came from.

More recently I have been captured by the landscape on a micro level and have become fascinated by fungi, lichen and moss which is filling my mind with new ideas for new work in the future.
