Meet the team - Rebecca

We recently received this wonderful testimonial from one of our clients which just goes to show that our services go beyond just social interaction. Rebecca is also a Nutritionist and helped one of our clients achieve a more healthy lifestyle.  This is what he had to say:

"In 2016 I had a major Stroke and was diagnosed with both Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis. Being as I am retired now and wheelchair bound with no immediate family - I was referred privately by a Social Worker to obtain a minimum of 4 hours a week from a "Befriending Service - Inspire Agency". This was to provide me with "Social Interaction" and to monitor my diet.

I was very fortunate to be allocated to Rebecca who came for 2 sessions a week of 2 hours.

I can honestly say Rebecca, in the year she was with me - transformed my life. I have always been a very independent Professional and since retiring had become a published author. I did have worries initially about having someone in my home who I knew little about. But after the initial assessment, my worries about this evaporated.

Rebecca discussed with me what I wished to achieve and we worked out a plan to achieve it.

I feel the best way to summarise my successful year with Rebecca is use 'bullet points' highlighting her successes.

  • Rebecca assessed my eating habits and worked out a plan on eating well and healthily being as I was a 'non-cooking vegetarian'. She educated me on what foods to buy and how to read 'Traffic Lights' and so on. She arranged to give me a cookery lesson once a week which was highly successful bearing in mind I am in a wheelchair and have a life-long 'Non Cook'! My partner and myself so enjoyed the results of these lessons! But with what Rebecca taught me - I LOST a full ten pounds in weight - without going on a diet! This weight loss has helped in my mobilisation and I am now attending physiotherapy successfully.
  • Rebecca assisted me in setting up appropriate computer systems for my writing and household needs
  • Rebecca also kept my mood elevated with her very astute and up-to-date awareness of world and local affairs.
  • As a summary, I cannot thank Rebecca enough for all the 'Positives' she brought into my life over the last year. Every aspect of my daily life was affected; from nutrition to cookery, to my weight loss and to computing knowledge!
I wish Rebecca all the success she deserves in the rest of her career."
