Happy Valentine's Day to You!

Regardless of your relationship status, this heart-filled day is perfect for celebrating the power of love. There are many different kinds of love—not just the romantic kind—and many different ways to express that love. In the #PlanningForLove series on the GoFisch blog I've featured how, oddly enough, estate planning actually makes a wonderful Valentine's gift. Don't get me wrong, chocolates, wine, and flowers are all great. But, a personalized, quality estate plan speaks to a continued commitment to consideration and care be it for your significant other, your children, or even yourself!

Give these posts a read to explore how Valentine's Day and estate planning are a perfect match.

  • Love yourself! Estate planning allows you the chance to determine the direction of your legacy.
  • Love your children. One kind of trust, a testamentary trust, is written into your will and provides for the distribution of a portion or all of your estate. (Often this strategy is useful for planning with minor children in mind.)
Read on for a V-Day gift guide you definitely won’t find in a magazine! These gifts cannot be bought in a store and are all a part of estate planning in one way or another.

I appreciate you as a reader and invite you to share this monthly newsletter with someone else who may enjoy it!

Tax-exempt organizations need to have specific guidelines in place to be compliant and in order to meet the IRS’ expectations. I’m offering a special nonprofit policy promotion February 15 through March 15, in time for the May 15 Form 990 filing deadline applicable to most nonprofits.

For your nonprofit, I'll draft 10 important policies asked about on Form 990 for just $990. (This also includes a consultation and one full review round.) If you’re a nonprofit founder, executive, board member, or even an active volunteer, this is an excellent way to ensure the organization you’re deeply invested in is meeting (and exceeding!) the gold standard for tax-exempt organizations.
