Is the Dismal Swamp State Park a vast body of mire or an oasis? A Louisiana transplant shares what you can expect when you visit. Our newest historic exhibit has an artsy flare as we celebrate the Harlem Renaissance.
Believed to be haunted by early settlers and approximately 13,000 years old, the Dismal Swamp State Park is a mysterious place. This vast wetland of dark and reflective waters has inspired strong feelings over the centuries and provided sanctuary to freedom seekers. A new Elizabeth City resident shares his reaction to this state park.

You may not think about being inspired by art when visiting a history museum.  However, Museum of the Albemarle shows off its artistry side by unveiling its new Harlem Renaissance traveling exhibit.  Celebrate the arts at the Harlem Renaissance family day on Saturday, February 17.
