Message from the
CEO

In case you missed it - we announced the program and speaker lineup for our 2018 Sustainable Purchasing Summit in Minneapolis this May 14-16! With over 80 speakers in more than 40 sessions, this year's Summit is sure to be our biggest and best Summit yet. Take a look at the program and speakers, and consider registering before the Early Bird prices expire on April 7th

The deadline to submit a case study application for our 2018 Leadership Awards has been extended to March 16th. This is a great opportunity to bring recognition to the colleagues who have helped make your sustainable purchasing initiatives a success! While only a few submissions will earn a juried SPLC Leadership Award, all high quality case studies submitted will earn an Outstanding Case Study Award and be added to SPLC's well-used Case Study Library. Past winners include public and private sector organizations such as the State of New York, Pacific Gas & Electric, the State of California, Philips, and more.

This Tuesday our work to promote high quality supplier sustainability ratings will be featured on a GreenBiz produced webinar (details below). GreenBiz has been a great source of support and inspiration for SPLC. We launched the Council on a GreenBiz webcast in 2013 and I found special inspiration in last month's GreenBiz Forum.

Thanks for reading SPLC UPDATE!

Sam Hummel, CEO & President

SPLC BENCHMARK Cohort Program

Lynne Olson "We found the BENCHMARK program very rewarding. BENCHMARK helped us document our [sustainable purchasing] program and identify what we're doing well, and specifically where we had room to improve. We were able to see where we should be focusing our attention in order to make the greatest impacts. It also provided a platform for us to discuss our program internally and externally, which laid the foundation for the State to continue the discussion... If you have the time to commit to going through the process, it's well worth the time and effort."

- Julia Wolfe, Director of Environmental Purchasing, Commonwealth of Massachussetts

Whether your organization is just beginning its sustainable purchasing journey or has been leading the way, a common set of questions practitioners encounter are:
  • What does a highly effective sustainable purchasing program look like?
  • How does my organization's efforts measure up?
  • How am I doing compared to my peers?
  • How do I efficiently and effectively plan my organization’s next steps to capture all the value sustainable purchasing can offer?

SPLC is pleased to announce a new opportunity to answer these questions using the SPLC BENCHMARK Platform together with peers via a confidential SPLC BENCHMARK Cohort Program. Participating organizations will receive training on sustainable purchasing, support from SPLC staff, facilitated peer-to-peer dialogues, and full access to the SPLC BENCHMARK Platform. The SPLC BENCHMARK Cohort Program is open to members and non-member organizations. Space is limited, so register today!
