Vermont Medical Society Advocacy Day
Thursday, March 29, 2018 
9:30 AM - 5:30 PM 


Bring your voice to Montpelier and learn how to be an effective healthcare advocate. Share your real-world experience providing health care with your lawmakers in order to be part of the conversation regarding health care reform in Vermont. And finally, celebrate your success at the VMS Legislative Reception in the Cedar Creek room in the Statehouse, where we will highlight "We are the Future Face of Healthcare in Vermont."

Please come for some or all of the day.


Three Parts to the Day

First: 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM (Lunch provided)

Program fee is $100 for medical professionals, FREE of charge for medical students and residents

Course Description: As a physician leader, learn effective communication methods to advocate and provide leadership both within and outside your organizations. You’ll learn how to use your insight and influence as effective tools for achieving your leadership and advocacy goals.

Who Should Take This Course: Physicians and other health care leaders seeking to gain a better understanding of the roles of influence, power and politics as leadership tools.
Course Objectives:
  • Develop a deeper understanding of your own personality traits, values, and leadership style and how each helps or hinders one’s ability to successfully influence others.
  • Identify the role that body language and listening skills play in your ability to communicate effectively.
  • Discover when and how to use power and politics to influence behavior or attitude change in others.

Second: 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

 

VMS Members Share Leadership Skills
at Statehouse Cafeteria
& Committee Rooms


We will take the opportunity to use our newly honed leadership skills and meet with key lawmakers, testify in strategic committees and share VMS priorities.

No fee for this portion of the day

 

Third: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

VMS Legislative Reception 
at Cedar Creek Room in Statehouse

We will share healthy refreshments with lawmakers and colleagues at the VMS Legislative Reception for the "We are the Future Face of Healthcare in Vermont" discussion. Speakers TBD.
