Hal Rosoff Classic 2018

This year, the Hal Rosoff classic landed on February 10, 2018. With over 300 paddlers in 350 entries within 5 different races, there was something for everyone. Most people even enjoyed racing twice, topping off at close to 15 miles of racing over the weekend!
The 11 Miles long course went from NAC out through the harbor to Balboa Pier, a left hand turn at the turn buoy and back to the NAC. The course had good outgoing tide and more southerly winds. When arriving at the harbor entrance the wind met against the current creating some fun swells that headed out to Balboa Pier. But that meant that coming back there was little bit more of an "uphill" challenge.

The next race that the Junior Outrigger Team will be attending is February 24, 2018 in Redonodo Beach. The first all open ocean race of the season.
Presidents Day Regatta 2018
The Junior Rowing team competed in Long Beach this weekend to compete in the Presidents Day Regatta.  This was the first sprint race of the season, the teams got their first experience of the shorter courses. The sun was out and the course had a small tailwind, all in all it was a great day to race in Long Beach!
Novice girls started off their season strong by claiming 6 First Places, and 2 Second Places. The Novice Girls A Boat held the fastest time at the regatta for any Junior Women's 8+. Both Freshman Boys 8+'s won by open water in their races. The team also earned first in their race in 6 entries. NAC Coaches are happy with the results after the weekend and are excited for the races to come!

New Board Room Protocal
As NAC’s board president, it is my responsibility to further the organization’s mission and successes by working collaboratively with key stakeholders, leading the board through difficult issues and having the ability to communicate, listen and seek input.
As our monthly board meetings have become more populated, we find ourselves in a place where a more structured environment for meetings will benefit our board business needs and our ability to hear and converse with our patrons and public.
Beginning at the next board meeting, we’ll be following a structured protocol for the meeting and all meetings to follow. This will provide for professional and appropriate climate for conducting NAC Board business. These protocols are the generally accepted process for Board meeting decorum and will allow for an effective meeting while allowing time for comment and response which helps promote the best interest of the NAC through a public forum setting.
I am hopeful that these protocols will help us to conduct our business in a professional and respectful way. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I’d be happy to speak with you.
Sincerely,
Bill Grant
