Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place this Sunday, February 18th, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street.
Understanding Suffering

"Holding the suffering inside of us, we will come to understand the nature and the roots of that suffering. Understanding suffering always helps the energy of compassion to be born. And compassion is the kind of energy that can heal us, and heal the world."

-- Thich Nhat Hanh,
Suffering Can Teach Us

Please note that the sanctuary at KUF will be set up this week in advance for a special rental the following day. Be prepared for things to be a little different when you arrive. One Week Away

Sangha-led Service

Our sangha will lead Sunday morning service at Kingston Unitarian Fellowship on Sunday, February 25th at 10:30 am. We will introduce our practice and Thay's teachings, exploring the common ground between our tradition and UUism. Sangha members will share reflections on Engaged Buddhism & Social Justice, TNH & Humanism, and the Unitarian "7th Principle" & Interbeing. Please join us to support and celebrate our community.

Seeking New Members

Bell Minders's Team

Our weekly mindfulness practice together depends upon having a group to rotate responsibilities for bell minding. Even "guest bell minders" are welcome, if you can only sign up for one or two dates. Please consider incorporating this into your practice, and an experienced bell minder mentor will be happy to help and support you. If interested, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com.

Sunday at KUF

Mindful Connections

In her book Real Love: The Art of Mindful Connection author and Buddhist teacher Sharon Salzburg writes, "The combination of realizing our distinctiveness along with our unity is seeing interdependence." This Sunday, February 18th at 10:30 am, Rev. Beckett Coppola explores the idea of mindful connections, in the moments when we are reaching out, and the moments when we are reaching in.
The Art of Stopping

"We have to learn the art of stopping - stopping our thinking, our habit energies, our forgetfulness, the strong emotions that rule us. When an emotion rushes through us like a storm, we have no peace. We turn on the TV and then we turn it off. We pick up a book and then we put it down. How can we stop this state of agitation? How How can we stop our fear, despair, anger, and craving? We can stop by practicing mindful breathing, mindful walking, mindful smiling, and deep looking in order to understand. When we are mindful, touching deeply the present moment, the fruits are always understanding, acceptance, love, and the desire to relieve suffering and bring joy."

-- Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching
Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
