Village Market E-News for Feb. 10th, 2018

Heritage Chickens Have Started Laying Eggs

That was the big news from Village Market farmer Linda Kapeleris last Saturday Feb. 3rd.

Now we're all looking forward to more of those local organic heritage breed eggs this Saturday, but there may not be enough to go around.

Interestingly, the heritage hens at Earth Haven Farm -- who are currently not coming to the Market while they look for a new person to help them here -- have also started to lay.

Could it be a sign that spring is on its way. Photo above left is of Linda Kapeleris last Saturday with two dozen heritage hen eggs from her farm near Queensville.

In other farmer news, farmer Jim Giffen is still bringing his baby greens -- spinach and lettuce -- down to the Market every Saturday from the greenhouses on his farm where he grows them directly in organic soil. None of this hydroponics stuff for farmer Jim.

Farmer Peter Seenath was at the Market last Saturday with local organic microgreens -- a couple varieties of radish -- along with the usual mixed baby greens, all from his greenhouses in Brampton.

Farmer Mike Lanigan is still washing and bagging carrots from last summer's harvest to sell at the Village Market. We know they're bound to run out -- maybe in a month or two -- so let's enjoy them while they last!

Photo below is of farmer Jim Giffen's greens from the winter of 2015:

This is the every-other week that Oli Ullmann is at the Market with her fermented local organic veggies and coconut etc. (see photo at top of E-News).

Birgitta Adrian Morley will be back with her line of Anaris  soaps, hand & Body cream, hand balms and body scrubs. Enjoy a Valentine’s special of 40% off hand & body cream and body scrubs. Gift packaging will be available! Saturday Feb. 10th only, while supplies last

Roman Plawiuk of Huron Sun local organic sunflower oils and cider vinegars will be here again this Saturday Jan. 10th.

Arne of Styrian Gold pumpkin seed oil will be here again this Saturday, but not next Saturday. Armin will return from Cambodia in a few weeks time and will be here regularly after that.

Sadiq Nathani of Merna Enterprises will be at the Market again this Saturday to talk to business people about converting their Facebook business pages into stand-alone websites, like he did for the Village Market. BTW the new Village Market website was finally linked to our domain this Tuesday, just ten days after the conversion process was started on January 27th. Of course we've added some more content to fill things out and we'll likely be adding still more. So stay tuned for all that.

Craftsperson Lili Golbous writes: "Recently I am making genuine leather tote bags which are very spacious  to load all you need to carry. So a very good choice for travelers to carry inside plane. Customize orders are accepted. Photos below:

Photo above is from three years ago. And believe it or not, Cameron's been performing at the Village Market even longer than that! Sing along, sit back and enjoy the music, or just listen while you're shopping.
