Join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore for a book signing and slide talk by Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post political cartoonist Ann Telnaes on Saturday, February 17 at 7:00 PM. Telnaes will present her new adult alphabet book Trump’s ABC. An exhibition of original artwork from the book will be on view from February 10 through March 8, 2018.

In 2001, Swedish-born Ann Telnaes became the first female cartoonist to win the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. In winning the Ruben Award in 2017, she became the only woman to receive both prestigious honors. Her work was published serially in the Washington Post for many years and syndicated nationally in various formats. Telnaes is the current president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC) and is a member of the National Cartoonists Society (NCS).

The election of Donald Trump inspired Telnaes to create her first original book. Trump’s ABC is a children’s board book designed for adults that alphabetically skewers our current president with clever verse and colorful cartoons (a format reflective of the commander-in-chief’s notoriously limited attention span).

The exhibition of original Telneas art opens on Saturday, February 10 from 6:00 to 9:00 to coincide with the 10^th anniversary of the lively Georgetown Art Attack. A week later, on February 17 at 7:00 PM, Telnaes will appear for a reading and book signing. Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is located at 1201 S.
