Our VALUES
Thank you all for coming along to 'Values' in January. My aim was to set the scene for the coming year and I think we achieved that we our values exercise.
I've taken inspiration from you all adding 'Adventure' to our LifeTalks values and you'll see a few NEW IDEAS popping up this year. Make sure you don't miss out.
Do you have Rituals or habits? This month at LifeTalks we are looking at the power of our Rituals. Alice Laskey has already started a thread of conversation here as I'd love to know more.
We have some exciting news to launch in March so make sure you're booked in at Andy Cootes' Lifetalks

******New – Appreciative Inquiry Group******

LifeMOT CIC are launching a new Appreciative Inquiry Group in
Cornwall, starting this April.
Thought to be the first group of this nature to meet
here, the group will meet at monthly intervals in order to have eight
sessions in 2018.
The venue will be in the Falmouth/Truro area.
Numbers will be limited for each group but we will be running further groups in 2019 and
beyond.
The facilitator, Andy Coote  has run business groups over
many years to meet specific project or business development needs.
This AI group will be freer in its operation, defining its own question then
working it through to action by the final session. That means that the question will
be one that the participants can do something positive to take forward
and it also means that this will not just be a ‘talking’ group.
Regular attendance is critical to the outcome.
There will be a cost per session (to be announced) that covers room hire and food
and drink.
If this is something that you would be interested in exploring, please let Amanda Hudson
and/or Andy Coote know.
This is an expression of interest at this stage.
More details will be announced at the LifeTalk on March 20th
and participants selected soon after

The Power of Ritual and Ceremony

Alice Laskey brings us - Rituals and ceremonies of many different kinds have been performed in various forms across all cultures throughout human history and still play a central role in many societies today. However, do we really recognise and embrace what ritual and ceremony have to offer us as much as we could in our everyday contemporary lives? In this LifeTalks event Alice Laskey invites you to playfully explore the various ways that you could integrate new everyday simple ritual and ceremony practices to consciously enhance the life you are living.

A busy mother of 2 young children with her own business and professional background as a Clinical Psychologist, Alice strongly believes in the benefits of integrating simple secular rituals and ceremonies into daily routines for both herself and her young family.
She is excited to have an opportunity to share and explore the potential power for transformation such practices could hold with the LifeTalks audience.
Her intention is to encourage a lively dialogue and opportunities for playful experimentation with ritual and ceremony. By attending this talk you will be able to reflect on the role this plays in your own daily life and take away simple new ideas that may be life enhancing.
Bring yourself, your friends, your open heart, your curious mind and your playful spirit.

Appreciating the Positive in order to Develop

Do you get caught up in problem solving?
Is there a culture of blame where you work or live?
Do you feel that sometimes it is the symptoms not the causes that get addressed?

Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is an approach that looks for and builds on what IS working and not on what isn’t. It seeks to define a positive question and then to answer it with actions that (in the words of the Johnny Mercer song) Accentuate the Positive. It comes out of the world of Emotional Intelligence and empathetic leadership.
The benefit of an approach that doesn’t seek to blame or find scapegoats is that those who can help to improve the situation can do so without fear of consequences. Thus, it brings greater creativity and ideas to bear on efforts to find improvement and ensures that the solution is one that is transparent to all and thus easier to gain buy in.
Andy Coote will bring AI to LifeTalks, taking you through the principles and the basic method with exercises you can try out.
This is not just a single talk, though.........? Find out MORE

Andy Coote writes regularly for Rapport Magazine (the magazine of ANLP) and is involved in organising the International NLP Conference and Awards. He is a radio presenter and interviewer for Source FM and has a background in business management and leadership. He is an Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator.

What is Lifetalks?

Who are we -

Open to all – Come along and meet like-minded people who have a thirst for personal development and enjoy exploring ideas through open discussion. Each month we have a different guest speaker on a range of subjects, some theory based and some on practical techniques. If you like exploring your mind and learning new things then this is the group for you. It’s an informal mix of people who come along for many different reasons; some for learning, others to meet and chat, to experience a practical session, to have time to work on something for themselves or just a night out in great company.
I’d love to see you there next time and I’d also like to know more about the kind of speakers that you would like to hear from. Contact me

When - There's generally something on every month but keep an eye on the Newsletters, website, Facebook or Meet up

Where - We meet near Truro. Currently at The Carnon Inn
