Lent Course 2018

Churches Together in Britain and Ireland have teamed up with Hope for the 2018 Lent course which is based on the book "40 Stories of Hope".

The stories within the course and book give a unique insight into prison life and point to the hope we can find as followers of Jesus. The group studies provide the whole Church – inside and outside prison – with the opportunity to walk with Jesus through Lent, learning from Mark’s Gospel and from the lessons prisoners, ex-prisoners and chaplains have learned. Whether we take this spiritual journey through Lent, alone or in company, there is much to draw on to refresh and encourage our faith.

PDF files for each week are available to download from the CTBI web site

News from Greenock East..................

On Saturday 10th February 2018, Derek McDonald of Greenock East URC, was Commissioned as An Assembly Accredited Lay Preacher. This was following three years of study throughout the URC's TLS programme.

The service was led by Synod Moderator, Rev. David Pickering and recognised Derek's achievements so far, as he responds to the Call of Lay Preaching. Presentation of the certificate was made by Elinor McCulloch on behalf of Synod, as Lay Preaching Commissioner.

Derek would like to say thank you very much to everyone who came along on Saturday. Thank you also for the messages, good wishes, cards and gifts received. He is  truly overwhelmed by your kindness.

All the buses that stop opposite Murrayfield Parish Church go along to Western Corner which is a couple of stops.  You can then walk down to the Church.  Hopefully some cars will be able to take those less able.)
