The Joint Fire Science Program is looking for success stories! We invite stories that demonstrate both the successes and challenges of implementing JFSP-funded fire science
research. We want to know how outcomes of science are leading to tangible impacts in the work of practitioners, lives of stakeholders, and resiliency of fire-impacted landscapes. We hope these stories will inspire others. Click here to share your story!
Publications:
- Human presence diminishes the importance of climate in driving fire activity across the United States. See also the CA Fire Science Consortium's research brief.
- The Oregon Forest Resources Institute published Impacts of Oregon's 2017 Wildfire Season.
Citizen Fire Academy: Curriculum Package for Facilitators and Educators. The Citizen Fire Academy (CFA) program equips participants with the knowledge they need to improve fire preparedness and resiliency on their own properties and in their communities. This curriculum offers interested educators or agencies the teaching tools needed to conduct their own CFA program, including lesson plans, detailed agendas, tour ideas, and suggestions for presenting it as a hybrid course.
- Wildland fire smoke and human health
- Recovery and adaptation after wildfire on the Colorado Front Range (2010-2012) (published in 2016).
