Get Your Tickets Today and Join Trivia Night Co-Hosted by Julian and Brooks PTO's. Don't miss this very fun parent/teacher/staff event on Thursday, March 15 beginning 6:30 pm at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn. Your admission includes appetizers, desserts and one drink ticket.  Form your own team of up to six people, or get assigned a team.  If you purchase tickets on/before March 9, cost is $30, after this date $35.  For more event details, please see this flyer. 
Join this Community Conversation with Artist, Muralist and OPRF teacher Tracy Van Duinen as the Percy Julian Summer Mural Project is discussed.  The meeting will take place Monday, February 26 from 6-7 pm at 260 Madison Street, Oak Park.  All are welcome to join the discussion to have input in the beginning stages of the murals design.  Please click here for registration information for this summer OPEF Base Camp Class. 
The Illinois State Board of Education is now accepting nominations for the 2018-19, Those Who Excel Awards, which honor people who have made significant contributions to public and non-public elementary and secondary education. D97 will be accepting nominations until Monday, February 26.  Please see details for this very important honor.  
Let's Support Pierce Cleaveland, a Julian Student on Team 6-2 as he Competes for an Apron this Week on Master Chef Jr! The season begins with a two hour premiere, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun/The Boys Are Back In Town" this Friday, March 2 at 7 pm on the FOX network.  Forty contestants will strive to make it to the next level after being split into two groups - girls and boys. The girls will be tasked with making a medium-rare filet mignon dish, while the boys must create the perfect chicken breast dish.  Only 12 winners from both groups will move on. Don't miss it as we support Pierce in this great endeavor! More details about the upcoming show can be found here.
It's Time for Battle of the Bots League Championship! Join in the fun this Saturday, March 3 beginning at 9:20 am with the Opening Ceremony.  This is an all-day competition for some of the best Vex Robotics middle school teams in Illinois.  This free event is open to the public and is a great way to introduce this program to students. Come out and support your friends who will be competing in this exciting event. For more information, please see the schedule provided on OPEF's website.  
8th Grade Students:  The OPRF Marching Huskies are hosting their Pizza Social on March 6th at 6 pm in the OPRF Band Room for new members in the 2018/2019 school year! Is your student not in band, but is a band friend? They may potentially join as a member of Color Guard.  Please RSVP by using this  link 
It's Time for Battle of the Badges! The Police versus Fire Department Basketball Game is Saturday, March 10 in the Julian Auditorium.  This is a Best Buddies/Special Olympics fundraiser hosted by OPRFHS, Elementary and Middle Schools in Oak Park. Starting at noon, there will be food and carnival games in the lunchroom with the Battle of the Badges at 1 pm. Suggested entry fee is $5 or $20 per family.  For more details about this event, please see this flyer.  
PTO Diversity Committees Will Be Hosting a Screening of "Hidden Figures", Equity Discussion and an Interactive Workshop for Kids at Brooks Middle School on Saturday, March 10 from 1- 4:30 PM. There will be a discussion for parents on practicing equity presented and facilitated by noted social justice scholar and journalist ShaRhonda Knott-Dawson. The interactive workshop will be led by local women of color who work in the fields of technology, science, and medicine. Please register here.  

Still Haven't Purchased a Yearbook?  No worries! You can purchase one at the Web Store  for $30 or send cash/check (payable to D97) in an envelope labeled with student's first and last name along with grade level. Drop off at Mr. Apostol's classroom C402. Questions? Please contact Mr. Apostol
Still Time to Register for D97's Summer Math Program for Incoming 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Students.  The program is June 11 - 29.  Deadline for registration is April 30.  See flyer for details.

Take the Stage!  "Our Story", a 6 Week After School Workshop is Intended for students whose voices are not typically/easily heard:  minority students, students with disabilities and special learning needs or students that identify LGBTQ+.  Learn more and register here.  Questions may be directed to the PTO Diversity Council.
