Get ready with us for International Women's Day 2018: #PressforProgress

The London Mayor declared the 100th year anniversary of the first female voters should be celebrated for the entire year with his #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign, at NAWIC we claim every day as an #IWD . The reason being that we need more than a single day to deliver the kind of change which will help our built environment be inclusive and belong to everyone!

Never the less, around March we break our 2 event a month unofficial rule and we go overboard to celebrate with other amazing organisations who we share many common goals with.... and this is why today, we want to remind you how you can too.

@WAGGGS_world supports 10 million girls to reach their potential and tomorrow, Saturday 24th of February, 24 of us will be joining Girlguiding London South West to help them explore the Impact that women can have on their communities, city and the world. We want to use this event to commence our calendar of activities around #IWD2018

As you are aware, on the 6th of March we will be taking part on the forthcoming Women in Construction Summit. The sold out event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for women to strengthen their connections across the industry.

If you are attending, make sure you say hi. We be chairing discussions and at our stand where we will be showcasing the images of our project The Image of Women in Construction with Morley's help.

8th of March,She Draws: She Builds - Celebrating International Women's Day; London with RIBA and NAWIC. (Free event sponsored by Ibstock)
This event aims to bring together women in architecture and construction, and encourage conversations and collaborations between disciplines. Come to the event and get to know many more of your peers. As the cross-disciplinary group that we are, a long term goal of ours has been to serve as a link to the many female led initiatives to be found across our industry and thanks to our project "The image of women in construction" and the collaborators at RIBA London who share the same vision, we will be able to do so for #IWD2018 .

Keep an eye for the March Issue of the Construction Manager Magazine .
On this issue, the CIOB Magazine has given us the opportunity to feature The #ImageOfWomenInConstruction, helping us spread the message across their membership and beyond.
We are very grateful to them, specially to Editor Will Mann who has been leading the feature.

Construction News has launched their Inspire Me Campaign earlier in the week and we were lucky enough to attend.
The campaign will be focused on encouraging diverse leadership and commitment to a better future for construction and CN reached out to us to include some of the portraits taken by Morley Von Sternberg for the #ImageOfWomenInConstruction in their promotional video. We must thank Associate Editor Damon Schünmann for the opportunity to be part of this worthy initiative . LINK

HELP WANTED
Deadline 1st of March
(share with women working on PR and Marketing within the industry)
CIPR CAPSIG is carrying out a survey to understand women's experiences and perspectives on working in PR and marketing in the construction / property sector. The research project leader, Jo Field, has asked if the CIC might be able to help disseminate the survey link. She describes the project as follows:
The aim is to complement existing CIPR gender research, and the many studies on women in construction and property.

We wish to explore whether women in construction and property PR and marketing have similar or different experiences to women in the wider construction and property industry. Our survey will examine how these experiences compare with the PR industry as a whole. And look at whether there are additional challenges for women in construction and property PR, given the complex challenges the sector already has regarding gender diversity.

We wish to hear from women in all types of PR and marketing roles in any sector of the property / construction / built environment industry (including women in PR agencies serving these sectors).
