Voz Latina will host its monthly pizza party TONIGHT from 5-7 p.m. as an informal social space for our members and any one who wants to join in the fun! The gathering will be at 5 p.m. in ITAP at 308 S 9th St, Columbia. Please share! 
Spanish Story Time: Upcoming Dates
Parents are welcome to bring their children ages 2-5 to Spanish Story Time at the Columbia Public Library in the Children's Program Room. Registration is not required to attend. Here are the upcoming dates and times: 
Sat. March 10, 10:00-10:30 a.m.
Sat. April 28, 10:00-10:30 a.m.
Thurs. May 17, 6:00-6:30 p.m.
Guest Speaker: Julia Cuervo Hewitt
The Afro-Romance Institute presents “Lydia Cabrera’s Yemayá y Ochún:  A Transatlantic Journey" on March 16 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 113 of the Arts & Science Building. Join guest lecturer Julia Cuervo Hewitt, who is an Associate Professor Emeritus - Department of Spanish, Italian, & Portuguese – at Pennsylvania State University. Her lecture examines the transatlantic networks between Cuban anthropologist Lydia Cabrera and French Africanist scholars Pierre Verger and Roger Bastide, the topic of her forthcoming book, Becoming Iyaré Yemayá: Lydia Cabrera’s Writings and Her Contemporaries. 
Agriculture and Social Justice Film Series
The MU Office of Sustainability will host an Agriculture and Social Justice film series throughout the spring semester to celebrate Black History Month, Women's History Month, and Pride Month. All showings are free and are in the Leadership Auditorium of the MU Student Center.The schedule is as follows:

Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.: "Can You Dig This" explores the impact of gardening in one of the largest food deserts in the country in South Central Los Angeles. 
March 15 at 7 p.m.: "Dolores" tells the life journey of farmer, activist, feminist, and mother Dolores Huerta.
April 15 at 7 p.m.: "Out Here" opens up the conversation on what the life of a queer farmer entails by sharing the stories of queer farmers across the country.

LGPN presents "Poesía Viva: Latin Spoken Word" on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. in Stotler Lounge of Memorial Union. Please share!
MU Celebrates Black History Month
Join local celebrities for a fun and competitive evening of history, culture and prizes at the Black History & Culture Trivia Night on Feb. 28 from 6-8:30 in the Friends Room of the Columbia Public Library. Sponsors include: BHM Committee; Columbia Honda; Daniel Boone Regional Library; University Libraries; Paramount Marketing Group.
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholars program
The goal of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholars program seeks to create a large cadre of diverse doctoral students from a wide variety of research-focused disciplines — students whose research, connections, and leadership will inform and influence policy on the road toward a Culture of Health. Scholars in this program—which is designed to enhance and enrich the doctoral program—will complete the Health Policy Research Scholars program concurrently with their doctoral program.

Examples of eligible individuals include, but are not limited to, first-generation college graduates; individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds; individuals from racial or ethnic groups that are underrepresented in doctoral programs; and individuals with disabilities. Please see the website for information on eligibility requirements.
