February 2018 Digital Update--corrected

Several of the links in the previous issue broke. They have been repaired for this revision.
Behavior Tip of the Month
Focus Your Attention on What You Want to See
(Replacement Behavior)

Children will repeat behaviors for which they receive reinforcement. When parents or teachers focus on modeling and teaching a replacement behavior (for example, standing with feet on the floor) INSTEAD of mentioning the inappropriate behavior (for example, stop kicking!), they prevent the inappropriate behavior from being reinforced, and therefore, repeated.
