Thanks to all of your support, I am thrilled to be

Winner of the Public Prize Award!

In Brussels, Belgium, I was pleased to be awarded the Public Prize at the reception for the René Carcan International Prize for Printmaking.  With the enthusiastic support of so many of you, I received more votes for all of my art than any other artist in the exhibition.  This despite MANY of you being unable to vote because you don't use Facebook!  Another artist received more votes on one of her pieces than any one of my pieces received, so the committee felt they needed to award a second Public Prize, since it was not made clear in advance which way the prize would be decided.

EXHIBIT PUTS SAN DIEGO ARTISTS IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT

50 visual artists selected to showcase San Diego’s diverse creative talent

Fifty of San Diego's emerging and professional visual artists will be featured in the biennial 50 TO WATCH, a unique program offering regional and national exposure to local artists. The 2018 edition includes a two-part local exhibition that will run throughout March at The Studio Door in North Park and Escondido Arts Partnership. Additionally, a catalog of artwork by participating artists is created that will be distributed to 1,500 galleries across the nation.

Maria Mingalone, Executive Director of Oceanside Museum of Art partnered with The Studio Door to jury this year’s exhibition.  Mingalone reviewed virtual portfolios of nearly 100 diverse visual artists before determining the final 50, which include painters, photographers, mixed media and sculptors.  She also selected three artists working at the top of their game, who will be announced at the artist reception on Saturday, March 3 at The Studio Door.

San Carlos Branch Library has invited me to fill their community room with my art.  I have been working on some new pieces - be the first to see new pastels and monotypes  from many days spent at Torrey Pines! Who knows, maybe you will find a pot of gold on St. Patrick's Day!
