Issue 194 - 19 February 2018

Dear Friend,

While lent is typically a time when people give something up for 40 days, we have found that with our supporters it’s often the other way around with many of you committing to support The Trussell Trust during this period by giving rather than (or, as well as!) giving something up.

Our 40 pence for 40 days challenge is back again, and we are asking people to join us in taking small actions to transform lives by giving up 40 pence for 40 days. With the addition of Gift Aid, this comes to £20. A great way to help us support Foodbanks in our network carry out their vital work, you can find out more here

This year we have also been inspired by an activity that has been growing in popularity over the past few years around Christmas. Last December we saw a huge rise in the number of supporters who arranged their own reverse advent calendar, which was a wonderful way to help people in our local communities who are facing a crisis. This lent we have introduced the AdLent Calendar, which works on the same principle. You can collect the food as an individual, across a family group, at work, at church, at clubs… however you choose to take part, your donations will go directly to your local foodbank to help people who are struggling to put food on the table. As always, we are so grateful for your continued support and commitment to ending hunger.
