This morning we received information from HCPS and law enforcement that a nearby school was placed on a Lock-In due to reports of possible suspicious activity in the area. As a proactive safety measure, Lutz Prep elected to place our school on a modified Lock-in.
After receiving confirmation the suspicious activity in the area was determined unfounded by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office, Lutz Prep lifted our modified Lock-in and resumed normal functions.
We apologize for any inconvenience to our students, however we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to student safety.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Guertin, Director
Kim Smallwood, Elementary School AP
Brian Bethune, Middle School AP

School-Wide Community Service Project Collecting Donations from 2/12-3/9
Did you know that every two minutes a child is removed from his or her home due to abuse or neglect?
PROVIDING DIGNITY AND HOPE. When children are removed from abusive or neglectful homes they often have inadequate, dirty or stained clothing, and little else. They carry their few belongings in a trash bag. Eckerd Raising Hope serves over 3,000 kids of all ages each year. When a child enters a ROOM OF HOPE they discover a cheerful, store-like room where they can “shop” for clothes, toiletries, shoes, school uniforms, comfort items and more. Plus, each child is given a brand new duffle bag to carry their belongings. This year's Lutz Prep community service project is to support Eckerd Raising Hope by collecting much-needed toiletries, undergarments and duffel bags for its ROOM OF HOPE. Click HERE for all the details and the donation wish list.

Florida Standards Assessments
As we have begun the second part of the school year, we want to inform you of some key information regarding the upcoming spring assessments. Below you will find tentative testing dates for the grade levels and their respective assessments. Please be aware that these dates are provided within testing “windows”, and they can change based on various factors. State and district changes, unforeseen technology issues, and internal scheduling at Lutz Prep all can play a factor in altering testing dates and times. While we make every attempt to communicate with families, teachers, and our students in order to be best prepared, we appreciate your flexibility and patience during this time. In addition, please note that during testing windows, we will be a ‘closed campus’ and no volunteering is available.
Below are some good tips to help your child during testing:
Get a good night’s sleep
Eat a healthy breakfast before coming to school
Arrive to school ON TIME! Tardiness will affect your child’s testing schedule
Avoid scheduling appointments during the school day
Reminder: Absolutely NO electronics allowed during testing (cell phones, smart watch/wrist phones, etc.)
Help reinforce academic integrity and that this is a snapshot of your child’s progress
Encourage them to do their best and not stress
