Hello friends!

We're excited to be back in your inbox with some big news...

JAMES BEARD NOD FOR LANCE WINTERS

The James Beard Foundation has announced its 2018 semifinalists, and for the third year running, St. George master distiller/proprietor Lance Winters has made the list in the category of Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional. This honor comes just as Lance is marking his 22nd year at St. George, and caps a remarkable decade of new releases and growth for the distillery. Lance reacted to the news by saying, "The greatest honor that can ever be bestowed upon anyone is the company they keep. Based on that, I've been winning for years." It’s hard to argue with that, but a James Beard Foundation Award would be pretty sweet, too... so please keep your fingers crossed that he advances to the next round!

NEW BOTTLING LINE

On the production front, we're thrilled to have a new bottling line. Our last line, purchased used in 2002 from the shuttered RMS distillery, enabled us to fill and label literally millions of bottles over the last 15+ years under the watchful eye of Warehouse Manager Luis Cruz. The old line served us well, but we were due for an upgrade. We installed our new line—a 28-head filler from MBF—on the east side of the hangar, which will make things much quieter in our tasting room and offices on bottling days. We can't wait to see what it's truly capable of, but so far, Luis and his team have already to put the new line to good use bottling All Purpose Vodka, Spiced Pear Liqueur, and NOLA Coffee Liqueur.

DISTILLERY APPAREL

Good news for everyone who's been clamoring for distillery swag: We have a fresh new batch of tees and hoodies in stock. Come on by and get 'em while they’re hot!

MARCH 10: WOMEN IN FOOD DINNER AT TAMALES LOS MAYAS

For International Women's Day, La Cocina has organized a series of dinners to celebrate the talents and voices of female chefs from across the Bay Area. On Saturday, March 10, Tamales Los Mayas chef/owner Alicia Villanueva will be preparing dinner at her tamale factory and we'll be there with cocktails that complement her cuisine. Join us!

FEATURED RECIPE: CALIFORNIA CITRUS VESPER

If you're like us, you feast on fresh citrus fruit whenever it's in season. And then you take beautiful Valencia oranges, Seville oranges, and bergamot from Lindcove Ranch and turn them into citrus vodka. Still with us? No? Well, that's okay, because we make enough California Citrus Vodka to share. In this easy and elegant recipe (one of Lance's personal favorites), it perfumes a classic Vesper while imparting a mega-dose of California sunshine.

California Citrus Vesper
3 oz St. George Botanivore Gin
1 oz St. George California Citrus Vodka
1/2 oz Lillet Blanc

Stir all ingredients with ice to chill, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a thin peel of your favorite citrus fruit.
