The New Student Experiences Team

This past month, professional staff from the New Student Experiences team, Kimberly Winchell, Liz Kelly and Dani Carrillo, participated in the Tucson Street Count. The Street Count is designed to help count the number of homeless youth currently living in the Tucson area in order to secure more funding for this population in the future. Many of these individuals may be eligible for our new Fostering Success program, which helps former foster youth, and youth on their own transition to and be successful at the University of Arizona. Fostering Success and the New Start program work collaboratively to help those experiencing homelessness or from the foster care system to enter the University of Arizona through the New Start program, and provide continued support through Fostering Success for their entire UA career.
     

New Start Gives Back

Did you know, the New Start Summer Program includes a student-run committee designed to give back to the Tucson community? This year, it is our goal to incorporate service learning into our curriculum and show New Start students the value of giving back. Have any ideas for service projects? Please email newstart@email.arizona.edu.
We want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to Brother John's Beer, Bourbon & BBQ for their continued support of New Start. Renovated from the original UA staple, Wildcat House, Brother John's is owned by New Start Alumni, John Aldecoa.
