AUSTRALIAN DAIRY CONFERENCE 2018
Held February 13-15 in Melbourne, attended by approximately 450 farmers and industry providers, the conference showcased international futurists, innovators, and forward thinkers presenting intriguing views around a theme of change in the dairy industry.
Highlighting challenges and opportunities that dairy farming is, and may be in the future, international speakers addressed preconceptions about our farming systems, customer demand and the speed of technology change that is re-shaping the world.
Lino Saputo Jnr., the third generation managing one of the world's largest dairy processors, addressed the changing nature of Australian dairy processing. Young dairy scientists gave presentations for the Young Dairy Scientists Award highlighting Australia's talent and cutting edge research.
Other segments covered farming in NZ, dairy business governance, five different approaches to dairy pathways, Dominos pizza's view of dairy as an ingredient, the industries advocacy review, and much more.
Gippsland farmers were on show with engaging tours of Ellinbank's Vic. Gov. research facility, Tarago River Cheese, as well as farms in Willow Grove, Won Wron and Fish Creek.
A highly recommended programme, the next conference will be held in Canberra.
