Everyone Has A _ _ _ _ _?

Yep, you guessed it! And Bay Area, CA native Sonia Sachar('20) is obsessed with them. Not the type created in fiction fairy tales but the ones that live deep within well..all of us.

" I love learning about people and getting to know where they come from and what makes them tick. When I hear other people’s life stories and diverse experiences especially regarding hardships they have encountered, it really inspires me to keep doing me, and to keep working hard regardless of the obstacles that lie ahead."

What's awesome about Sonia is that she's not just hungry to hear about the hardships of those around her but the Brown University c/o 2020 Class President is humble enough to share her own.

"Most people look at me and see a healthy, physically-abled body, normal student, who seems happy and driven. In reality, I deal with a chronic ~invisible~ health illness, that impacts me differently each day. Gratefully, I have learned various techniques to manage my symptoms.

I learned how to accept myself and come to terms that I’m not the same as everyone else. I learned to realign my priorities and really focus on things that mattered to me. I became an optimist, a live-in-the moment kind of gal, and overall, became more resilient and surprisingly, more happy."

Congrats Sonia! Sounds like the class of '20 is in good hands.

Ever Wondered What It Would Be Like If Shopping Period Never Ended!?

Ask Chicago, IL native Mohamed Mohamed('18) about his journey at Brown and he'll be honest about the challenges he faced in aligning his passions with his concentration.

"Brown can be very emotionally and physically exhausting because of its academic rigor. In my personal experience, I spent time taking classes that I wasn’t really interested in, which in turn ruined my college experience! However, once I realized my passion and began taking classes that I was truly interested in, things changed."

Many can relate to the unwritten self-examination that happens as we all attempt to methodically plan and calculate our futures. Fortunately, Mohamed he has been able to find solace among his community of fraternity brothers.

"Becoming a brother of Beta Omega Chi Fraternity Inc, has been one of the most transformative experiences of my college career. I found a group of brothers who were genuinely interested in my success both academically and socially. Their support has truly been essential to my success."
