I'm Heather Hudson; I draw pictures of odd and illuminating things.

If you're reading this, you probably signed up for my newsletter at a convention or after a Kickstarter campaign.  Welcome!  Thank you for your interest in my work!  You can see more of it at www.artofheatherhudson.com

I will be at Emerald CIty Comic Con next month!  Visit me at Artist Alley at table DD-11 to see what I've been working on!
Three of my fantasy bird watercolors are available now in the Operation Gaia art auction! This is the second year that Changeling Artist Colllective and the Bird Whisperers have held a Facebook art auction to raise funds for conservation; you can find out more about the art challenge and auction on the Operation Gaia blog.  The auction ends at noon EST on Friday, 23 Feb.  All proceeds (less shipping and PayPal costs) will be donated to the National Audubon society.  To bid, check out all three auction entries at the links below before noon Friday...

My fairytale painting, Puss in Boots Holding the Bag, is currently hanging at Gargoyles Statuary in Seattle as part of their February group show, Le Rêne Du Chat. This framed 6"x7" watercolor is currently available; please contact Gargoyles for more information. If you're in the Seattle area, Le Rêne Du Chat (The Dream of the Cat) show runs through Wednesday, 14 March, 2018.
My Make 100 Coyote Child Enamel Pins campaign ended successfully! Thank you, everyone, for your support!
Kickstarter is still processing payments as I write this, but the project funded well over my minimum goal so I’ve already started the pins and the card backs.  Also I've finished a first rough draft of the stretch goal story reward, in all its verbose glory!
Updates will follow as the rewards come together, after ECCC!

The secret sketch of the month is a preliminary study for my digipainting "The Old WItch."  It's a sketch from reference in black and white pencil on a 9"x12" brown wrapping paper, drawn to figure out how the arms would be lit and how the skirt crumples when the witch sits in front of the fire.

I found the drawing in my files recently, and share it so you can see one of the hidden steps that helped me take the Old Witch from an idea into a finished picture.  Also, I still like her expression.

If you'd like to give her a home, the sketch is available for 75 USD + 7 USD shipping in the US (82 USD total), or 75 USD + shipping outside the US. Contact me for more information if you're interested.

The final digipainting
“The Old Witch" is currently available as a limited edition print in the Studio Wondercabinet store. You can see it here, and also purchase it if you are a US resident.  If you live outside the US, contact me directly to arrange payment through Paypal.
