Reminder of some key information regarding the spring assessments that begin next week for our 8th grade students. Please note that Thursday, March 1st and Friday, March 2nd we will be a 'closed campus' and no volunteering is available from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. If testing ends early a specific day and/or make ups days are not needed your teacher will contact you if they have a volunteer need and let you know the time frame you would be permitted to assist.
Below are some good tips to help your child during testing:
Get a good night's sleep
Eat a healthy breakfast before coming to school
Arrive to school ON TIME! Tardiness may adversely affect your child's testing schedule
Avoid scheduling appointments during the school day
Reminder: NO electronics allowed during testing (cell phones, smart watch / wrist phones, etc.)
Help reinforce that this is a snapshot of your child's progress
Encourage them to do their best and not stress
Please continue to review the overall Spring Assessment Resources and Schedules section below that will be published each week in the NEWSFLASH. Having the schedule available will allow you to plan your student's activities and appointments accordingly to ensure that they will be present in school ready to do their best during this test administration. Please be aware that these are given as testing "windows" as they can change based on various factors. State and district changes, unforeseen technology issues, and internal scheduling at Lutz Prep all can play a factor in altering testing dates and times.
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership in our students' educational success. Go Bolts!
Sincerely,
Bonnie Guertin
Lutz Preparatory School Director

School-Wide Community Service Project
Collecting Donations from 2/12-3/9
Did you know that every two minutes a child is removed from his or her home due to abuse or neglect? PROVIDING DIGNITY AND HOPE. When children are removed from abusive or neglectful homes they often have inadequate, dirty or stained clothing, and little else. They carry their few belongings in a trash bag. Eckerd Raising Hope serves over 3,000 kids of all ages each year. When a child enters a ROOM OF HOPE they discover a cheerful, store-like room where they can “shop” for clothes, toiletries, shoes, school uniforms, comfort items and more. Plus, each child is given a brand new duffle bag to carry their belongings. This year's Lutz Prep community service project is to support Eckerd Raising Hope by collecting much-needed toiletries, undergarments and duffel bags for its ROOM OF HOPE. Click HERE for all the details and the donation wish list.
