MARCH 2018

Ninth WDA and WDA Foundation
Mission of Mercy: June 22 – 23, 2018

Online registration is now open!

We need your help, as well as that of your staff, adult family members and friends! Nearly 1,000 volunteers are needed to make MOM a success.

There are numerous dental and non-dental volunteer opportunities.

All volunteers, with the exception of setup, teardown, data entry, patient registration, volunteer registration and hospitality, must be 18 years of age at the time of the event to volunteer at Mission of Mercy. For those volunteer positions listed, the minimum age is 16. There are no exceptions to these age limits. Volunteers involved in the actual delivery of patient care or handling of instruments must have received their Heptavax vaccination.

Registration closes June 8. Register early to help us have enough shirts available for all volunteers.

Are you an out-of-state volunteer?

Dentists and dental hygienists from other states who are volunteering and want to provide direct patient care, but who don’t currently hold a Wisconsin license, must obtain a temporary charitable care license through our state.

Follow these links -- dentist and dental hygienist -- to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services website for temporary charitable care license information and to download an application.

Please allow up to four weeks for processing.

Donations are a great way to help, too!

Please consider a financial or in-kind tax-deductible donation. The need is great with an operating budget of just over $212,000.

Please make checks payable to WDA Foundation and write “MOM” or “Mission of Mercy” in the memo line. Mail checks to: WDA Foundation/MOM, 6737 W Washington St, Suite 2360, West Allis, WI 53214.

Call Vicki Bohman at 414-755-4198 to charge your donation to a credit card or click here to make a donation online through YouCaring.com. To arrange for an in-kind donation, please contact Carol Shoemaker at 888-338-6852.

Please note we are unable to accept donated dental equipment, regardless of the condition, due to lack of storage capacity.

ABOUT THE WDA FOUNDATION

WDA Foundation
Established in 1957 as a charitable subsidiary of the Wisconsin Dental Association, the WDA Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. It is committed to improving the oral health and overall well-being of Wisconsin residents while supporting the needs of the dental community. Donations to the WDA Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

The foundation is largely supported by WDA members. However, costs associated with a large-scale project such as Mission of Mercy require an expanded donor base and solicitation of grants from industry-related sponsors, community supporters, other foundations and local dental societies.

NATIONAL MOM FOUNDATION

America's Dentists Care Foundation

America's Dentists Care Foundation (ACDF) is the nonprofit organization that owns and transports all of the dental equipment to MOM projects nationwide.

It was formed in 2008 when MOM organizers in Kansas and Nebraska combined their equipment and loaned it to other states. Rental fees help cover equipment maintenance, replacement and warehousing, staff support and foundation office space.

We appreciate ADCF’s support throughout the planning and execution of each WDA MOM event. Visit their website to learn more.
