Guidelines: A comprehensive dose of evidence?
Suppose that you have the opportunity to help guide a loved one’s health care decisions. What might you do? How might you seek the best available evidence regarding treatment?
Martin Bohdal, a trainee under Cochrane Hypertension, presented his answers to these questions at the 2017 Cochrane Canada Symposium. Martin imagined a scenario in which he was determined to guide his parents’ blood pressure treatment with help from two resources, the 2017 Canadian Hypertension Guidelines and Cochrane Hypertension systematic reviews.
The Methodological Expectations of Cochrane Intervention Reviews (MECIR) standards have been updated. Standard C48 - Examining errata: has been updated from "Highly desirable" to "Mandatory". For more information, please see the MECIR Manual.

As of March 2018, The Cochrane Library contains 68 reviews and 42 protocols under Cochrane Hypertension and 20 additional titles have been registered by the group for authors intending to undertake systematic reviews.

As of August 2017, Cochrane has a new Policy for Rejection of Cochrane Reviews. Cochrane Hypertension encourages authors and editors to become familiar with the policy.
A Review Group's Co-ordinating Editor(s) can reject a review at any stage before publication. The decision to reject is typically based upon one or more of the following reasons: poor quality; failure to meet agreed timelines; evidence of that the authors lack core competencies to complete the review; concerns about conflicts of interest or other aspects of publication ethics.
