So, you might have noticed that it's been a bit snowy with the Beast from the East on our doorstep, but now the snowing is melting, dust yourself off and get involved in some of the fantastic activities going on in March!

Crystal Palace Library of Things coming in April!
Wow, can hardly believe it, but we are finally moving towards the opening of our Library of Things ! It's kind of real already, as we've had a mending meet-up and a very well-attended Restart Party there last Sunday. But the big news is the Things are on their way up the hill from West Norwood and we'll soon be open for borrowing !

Got seams that are fraying? Holey socks? Trousers that need taking up? Come along to this informal mending meet-up and learn sewing tricks and tips from each other. 
Whether you're a seasoned stitcher or a complete beginner, you're welcome to join. If you can’t make it for the whole session, feel free to drop in when you can!
 
 What to bring:
+ your clothes in need of mending
+ any spare needles and thread you have 
+ a bottle of something or some snacks for our shared table
We'll provide the space, music and our 2 sewing machines for any bigger jobs.

Park Night! 
Thanks to everyone who came along to our first "Park Night"on Thursday 22nd it was a roaring success and received great feedback. Joe has written a blog about it, which also doubles up a great summary of many of the great community groups working in Crystal Palace Park. Read all about it here:

Green Drinks
We're back to sort of normal (were we ever normal ?), in March with our Green and Community Drinks at 8.30pm on 21st March in the Paxton Centre. Building on the great energy of the different activities at the moment, it will be a great opportunity to find out what we are up to share your ideas and meet new people. 


Latest Update from Crystal Palace Transition Town Choir!
The Choir had an amazing time singing at the Compassionate Neighbours Community Choir Festival at Christchurch Gipsy Hill - 7 local choirs attended (about 140 singers) plus lots of audience and volunteers
Many new friendships, connections and rediscovered long lost friendships were celebrated at this event aiming to increase community cohesion and awareness of St Christopher's Hospice Compassionate Neighbours Programme- more photos coming soon! the one above is of the rehearsal!
 
In March Choir will be singing songs in honour of International Women's Day and having a celebratory end of term Spring Sing at Crystal Palace Foodmarket - see you there at midday on 31st March
All welcome to come for a sing on Wednesday evenings until 28th March 7-8.30pm at the Paxton Centre - £7/£5 Drop In.

The Edible Garden plan to meet on Saturday 10th and 24th March from 10.30am. Now Spring is on its way, the garden is looking very pretty with daffodils and other bulbs coming up. We've got lots of plans for planting beans, tomatoes, beetroot, squash and courgettes this year. We'll be moving into Spring planting for summer veg during March, then gearing up for weekly gardening sessions again in April.

Spring seed-sowing: Spa Hill Allotments
Monday 19 March, 2-4pm
Join the Patchwork Farm team for spring seed-sowing at Spa Hill allotments on Monday 19th March from 2-4pm
We'll be in our polytunnel sowing seeds for our community gardens. All welcome. Child friendly.
We are based on the Dale Park Road site at Spa Hill, walk to the far end of Dale Park Road and it's the gate on the right.

Regeneration of Crystal Palace Park

Friends of Crystal Palace Park would like us to know about an important consultation regarding regeneration plans for the park.

 

Bromley Council has prepared a Regeneration Plan for Crystal Palace Park. The plan aims to deliver a renovated and vibrant metropolitan park which is an asset to it ssurrounding communities and attracts visitors from across the UK. The council is seeing to submit a planning application in Spring 2018. Berfore they do this, they will hold information events to describe the plans.
