Learn the facts about telecommuting and workers' comp.
View email in browser.
Whether you’re a full-time remote worker, or just telecommuting on a snow day, working at home can be a win-win for you and your employer.
But what happens if you’re hurt on the job…at home? Are you still covered by workers’ comp?
Often, the answer is yes
.
Organize Your Home Office Day (March 13) is a good time to remind telecommuting employees about workspace safety and ergonomics. Here are some tips:
Adjust your chair
so your feet are flat on the floor and your lower back is supported.
Place your computer screen
at arm’s length away with the top third at eye level.
Use extra lighting
for close-up tasks.
If you use a laptop
as your primary computer, consider adding a separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Clear away tripping hazards
, such as loose cords.
Take regular breaks
to walk, stretch, and rest your eyes.
