Teacher Appreciation Week Starts Tomorrow!
We are very lucky to have wonderful teachers and staff at Midway Elementary! We’d like to invite all students and parents to show extra gratitude to teachers this week. The PTA will also be providing a special lunch for teachers and staff and has planned some other fun things that we'll highlight next Sunday.
Here are the daily themes if you choose to join in this week, starting tomorrow. You can pick and choose which days you participate - this is all optional.
- Monday - Be extra quiet and helpful in class today. Listen and learn!
- Tuesday - Bring a school supply to restock your teacher's classroom (glue stick, tissues, dry erase markers, etc.)
- Wednesday - Wear your teacher's favorite color (don't forget to ask him/her what it is!)
- Thursday - Return the "All About My Teacher" paper that came home with your student on Friday
- Friday - Free day! Do anything you want to show your appreciation! (write a thank you note, bring a small gift, donate a book to their classroom, pay them a compliment, etc.)
Girls on the Run Begins Wed.
The first practice for Girls on the Run is this Wed. at 3:30 p.m. Gemma Arro will be leading Midway's group - contact her with any questions: gemma.arrow@wasatch.edu.
Final Meet the Masters this Wed/Thurs.
We could use more volunteers for the last Meet the Masters coming up this Wed. and Thurs. Sign up here if you're available!
This year, Meet the Masters was coordinated by Beck Neuner, who spent hours at the school two days each month making sure the program ran smoothly. We're very thankful for her, the fabulous presenters, and other wonderful volunteers who supervised and helped the students with the art projects.
Dual Immersion Proficiency Night this Thurs.
Dual Immersion Proficiency Night is this Thurs., March 15 at 6 p.m. All families at the school are invited! Celebrate our students' second language learning and see the level of language expected with each grade. We'll have live class performances and videos about dual immersion proficiency. Learn more about the Dual Immersion program and application process here.
March 21 at 9:30 a.m. - Dual Immersion Tour - come for an introduction to the program, visit a few dual immersion classrooms, then finish with a question and answer session.
March 21 - the Kindergarten Dual Immersion Lottery Application begins (the online application link will be available closer to the date).
Heber Railroad Fundraiser - Mondays in March
Through the month of March on Monday nights, the Heber Valley Railroad is offering $4 discount tickets to Heber Valley residents. They will also donate a portion of the proceeds from these tickets back to our school's PTA. To purchase these special tickets, call and say you're interested in the Midway School deal for Monday nights: (435) 654-5601.
Dairy Keen Fundraiser
Thanks to the many families who bought food and raffle tickets at Dairy Keen last week! Our teachers were happily greeting families and working hard behind the counter. The money raised will go toward classroom budgets. We appreciate Dairy Keen's generosity to help raise money for our school!
School Library Fundraising
We are steadily working toward our goal of $50,000 for improvements to the school library! Thanks to those who have contributed so far!
Donate to this important project that will enhance learning for all students at our school. Students and parents can also donate coins and cash to fundraising jars that will be in the main office.
Jafflz Fundraiser
Midway parent Meryl Van Der Merwe owns the local business, Jafflz, which makes all-natural toasted pockets that are available in the freezer section at Ridley's and other local grocery stores. She will donate $1 to the school library fundraiser for every Jafflz wrapper brought in to the box at the school's front office.
