Dear <<Name>>,
First of all, welcome to all new members! You are an integral part of the association and we look forward to your participation.
There is so much going on in the new IAJW community. We recently held our second telechat with guest expert and author, Sheila Bender who taught us how to use our 5 senses and metaphor to enliven our journal writing. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and creativity with us, Sheila!
Speaking of our Journal Council, we are excited to have Susan Borkin join our IAJW team. You can learn more about Susan, her books and work in the therapeutic writing field by going here. Susan will be offering courses and fabulous resources which will be available in the months ahead. If you would like to receive her journal writing tips and exercise, and more than 60 other journaling and life writing tips, prompts or exercises from our experts, please visit our member only area (log in as a member or become a member now to access this inspiring member benefit).
For more IAJW member benefits and updates, please see below.
I hope you have been enjoying receiving your 7 Servings of Journal Juice delivered directly to your inbox. One person recently wrote to me and said: "I just want to thank you so much for these inspiring pieces of Journal Juice... I can now feel the stirrings of my inner ally slowly coming forth again. I am beginning to let go of some of the parts I struggle with each time I put pen to paper."
Do you ever struggle with journal writing? Do you ever feel resistance to write? Perhaps you sometimes procrastinate when it comes to journal writing (or doing anything creative and expressive for yourself)? You are not alone! It is a courageous act to put pen to paper and write for yourself. Things stir, open, come out, and sometimes tuck away and hide until ready to be expressed, or known, or seen. We must trust ourselves as we write in our journals. We must trust our own lives, and stories, and words and right timing.
"Art, after all, is about rearranging us, creating surprising juxtapositions, emotional openings, startling presences, flight paths to the eternal." ~ Rosamund Stone Zander

- What do you resist when you are writing in your journal?
- What purpose does procrastination serve in your writing (in your life)?
- Procrastination helps us avoid what we are afraid of. What do you fear?
- Are there emotional openings, little windows, where journal writing can help more light (lightness, ease) get through?
