Another perfectly innocent postcard from

Perilous and Sparks

Perform a disappearing act

Mar 07, 2018 04:43 am

Hello, again. It’s been a while. Maybe you didn’t notice, but I did a disappearing act. It’s something any secret agent worth her salt can do easily, and it’s an absolutely imperative survival skill.

Maybe you’re wondering why I up and vanished.

I’d love to tell you.

But then I’d have to kill you.

JK

Or am I?

All you need to know, dear readers, is that I found myself in peril, and it became necessary to disappear. No blog. No social media. No phone. Gone without a trace.

Apparently, nothing fell apart in my absence. The world is still spinning. Emails are still languishing in my inbox. Instagram is still tagging hash.

It’s almost insulting to realize that I’m not necessary to the forward movement of reality. But then again, sometimes over-estimating our importance in the grand scheme of things can become a burden. That’s when a disappearing act can serve as a powerful reminder that we’re free to step off the dance floor and collect ourselves when we need to. The dance will go on. We can join back in as soon as our feet quit throbbing.
