Director's Report / Four-year-old Group News

Welcome to returning and new families! We are looking forward to a fun and action-packed year in 2018. It has been a positive start to the year for both the blue and red four-year-old kindergarten groups. Our focus in the first few weeks is about settling children in to the daily routines, and for children to learn each other's names.

Colour Days have commenced, where children dress in selected colours. These are enjoyed by all children and create a sense of camaraderie.

Parent/teacher interviews have been completed, with the information gathered being a means of opening up communication with children.

Thanks to those who attended the welcome barbecue, and I look forward to seeing you at more events in 2018!

Three-year-old Group News

The year has started off very well for the children in the yellow group, with all children settling in quickly. The main focus has been to ensure children feel safe and secure within the kinder environment.

Children have been enjoying activities including home corner, puzzles, small blocks, our train set, Duplo, threading and a variety of other fun activities where they can interact with peers. We were also fortunate to have a session with the 'big kids' in four year old kindergarten red group!

As of 28th February, normal hours have commenced, and children have the added routine of lunch. We look forward to seeing them grow over the year ahead.

Are you handy with a drill?

We're looking for our next Maintenance Coordinator to assist with our two working bees held throughout the year. Your maintenance costs will be refunded, and more importantly you get to meet other like-minded parents! Speak to Michele Daniel, Director, for more information.

Our Welcome BBQ

What a great start to 2018! Thank you to everyone who attended our welcome barbecue on Sunday 18th February at the kindergarten. It was lovely to see so many new and returning faces. A big thank you also to the church for the animal farm, and for providing the barbecue.

We look forward to seeing you at the next get-together at the end of term 1 picnic on the 25th March!

Open Mornings - 2018

Instead of an Open Day in May, this year we are inviting prospective parents to come and see the kindergarten every Thursday morning at 10am during term time.

If you know anyone who is interested in attending St Dunstan's please let them know!

Thank you to our watering team!

A big thank you to all families who assisted with watering our garden over the summer holidays! The vegetable garden is looking healthy and happy.

We appreciate the time and care you all spent - thank you to Melissa Boyle, Simone McKenzie, Bronte Kennare, Kate O'Callaghan, Renee Triantatyllou and families!

Hot cross bun time! Get in quick to place your order!

Thanks to the lovely team at Baker's Delight on Riversdale Road in Camberwell - you can place you orders for a variety of hot cross buns, and have them delivered to the kindergarten. For every 6-pack of buns you order, $2 will go to the kindergarten!

If you haven't received an order form, please see Michele Daniel, Director. Please place your orders with correct payment in the Treasurer's box which is located just inside the 4-year-old kindy room (the bag room!) by Friday the 23rd March. Orders will be ready for delivery from the kindy on Wednesday the 28th March.

Church News

It is lovely to see everyone back at the kindergarten, and to meet so many of you at the BBQ. You are welcome to attend any of our activities:
  • Open Church: Held monthly, with the first one held on Sunday 4th March from 4-6pm. This is for all ages.
  • Mainly Music - Each Wednesday from 10.30am - 11.30am in the church. Cost is $5 per family, and includes singing, dancing and morning tea.
  • Church Fete - This year the fete will be held on Saturday 5th May.
  • Meetings with a social justice reference are new to the church in 2018. Our first meeting is themed 'Justice for Refugees' on 18th March. These will be held monthly and all are welcome.

Safety Reminder

Just a reminder to avoid walking down the driveway of the house next to the church when you arrive or leave kindergarten. This belongs to the vicarage and is used frequently. Thanks for your understanding, we want everyone to stay safe!
