Edition 154
Saturday 17th March is the Surrey Cricket Foundation Conference.
This is a great event with many very useful workshops, an opportunity to meet some suppliers including our friends at Sharks (see below).
It would be great to see 2-3 people from each West Surrey Youth Cricket League club there if you can make it.
You can secure your places at this event for just £10 (this includes lunch on the day) – Book Now.
Matt Dwyer (ECB Director of Participation and Growth) will be addressing the audience on the day alongside Surrey Cricket Foundation Chairman Simon Dyson and we have lots of other elements planned as well. They have now confirmed the following workshops:
- NEW – Funding Workshop – hear about the latest funds your club might be able to apply for and also hear some top tips on how to make your funding application stand out.
- NEW – GDPR – learn about the new data protection laws that come into place in May 25th. Following on from ECB’s club guidance, the aim of this workshop is to provide your club with a better understanding of what you need to do to comply moving forward.
- Juniors and Beyond – Models for Retaining Juniors in Adult Cricket – How does your club move players from junior to senior cricket? This workshop will explore some tried and tested ways of retaining older junior players and will be delivered by Phil Everest (Junior Leagues Chairman) and Dave Walter (Surrey Trust League Chairman).
- Surrey Slam – Growing Short Format Cricket – Matt Camp, Competitions Manager at the Surrey Slam, will explain how their innovative format may support clubs wishing to provide a different offer to their members.
- All Stars Cricket – Hear from Alleyns CC and South Nutfield CC on a Surrey club who maximised their involvement in All Stars Cricket in 2017 and hear why your club should sign up in 2018.
- Club Insurance Made Simple – Is your club at risk of being under insured? Have you been targeted by online fraud? This workshop will be delivered by Colin Mico from Aston Scott with the aim of better educating clubs in this area.
- Getting Your Ground Going – A session delivered by County Pitch Advisor John Dodwell, aimed at supporting volunteer grounds people with advice and knowledge on preparing their pitches better.
- Clubmark and Club Development – A session on ECB’s new online Club Development framework and how it can help your club moving forward .
- Programme Planning for Coaches – ECBCA Surrey will deliver a session aimed at coaches and directors of junior cricket which will focus on how to plan coaching programmes for groups of players at clubs.
- Creating a Warm Welcome – Facilities Working Group member Jon Elworthy, a designer by trade, will explore what clubs can do to make their facilities more welcoming to guests and potential new members.
I hope to see many of you there.
