CCC Women win BRONZE at USCA Club Nationals!

Kimberly Gaddie (lead), Jayne Flinn Burton (skip), Tatiana Keeling (third), Amy Thompson (second)

The BURTON Team, aka "the Monsters" are back from Brainerd, MN and we are so proud that they earned the bronze medal at USCA Club Nationals!  This year’s field was exceptionally competitive – including past Olympic, World, Junior and Senior championship curlers. And then there was Team Burton – the unknown team from Arizona with the crazy monster shirts – taking everyone by surprise!

Skip Burton said, "Playing in an event of this magnitude can be overwhelming if you let it. Officials keep a keen eye on your every move. It is crowded – with 10 women’s and 10 men’s teams all aiming to be top of their respective leaderboard. Not much separates each team skills-wise. Therefore, it’s critically important to get the “little things” right – as these can be the sole difference between the W and the L."  And they put enough "Ws" on the board to make to the semi-finals and win the bronze.

The Coyotes back home provided a constant source of support  -  messaging, texting, calling, and even sending a gift basket of delicious treats. That's what the Coyotes Curling Club does - it's a family that supports its members, no matter where you are.  For the team, "it was a reminder that we were playing not just for ourselves, but for our club and for all of our members and that's what kept us going."

From Jayne Flinn Burton who skipped the team to victory:  "I  couldn’t be more proud of Tatiana, Amy and Kim. They handled the pressure of this national event like pros and represented CCC and MoPac to the highest standard. I am ever grateful they brought me along for this ride with them. It has been an absolute highlight of my curling career."

Ability 360 Bonspiel Was Rockin’ and Rollin’!

CCCs first ever Wheelchair Curling bonspiel was a super  success! Congratulations to the winning team from Nutmeg! If you missed seeing the games live, check out our YouTube channel. Thank you to Carol Ann Naso and Brian Cristall of the Budget Committee for being the lead sales individuals and to those that worked the bar selling tickets (Marty Book and Travis Gaddie to name a few), our Communications Team for using the tickets as a tool to make sure people read the newsletter, to those that came to the Super Bowl party at the club and helped buy the last of the tickets and the many others that helped make this a success.  Thank you all!!  and a special thanks to our chief ticket promoter and Raffle Chairman, Greg Gallagher
