VERITAS COLLEGE UGANDA - A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW ON DEVLOPMENT

In Uganda, the salaried job earner and the man who looks for work for the day’s wage have one thing in common; they both wake up every morning to go fend for their family's livelihoods. A good number of believers who have received training on how to interpret the Bible through our ‘Equipping to Serve’ modules have found it challenging to deal with their financial/livelihood situations.

The third ‘Transformational Development’ (TD) workshop covering part two of the training that was successfully held in Nanga Mukono District from 22nd to 26th January 2018. Testimonies abounded as to the impact of part one of the training that happened over the last two years. TD is a holistic approach to development that, instead of focusing on what people lack, recognizes the God-given gifts and strengths of communities and individuals, encouraging them to use these to bring change to their communities. Through the Gospel, TD recognizes that sin is responsible for poverty of body, mind and spirit, and that restored relationships are fruit which comes from the Holy Spirit. TD brings about fundamental changes in a community as people's thinking is radically changed by the Gospel and as they understand and embrace a Biblical world-view. TD training serves to compliment the Bible interpretation skills.

Charles Wasswa (R) is a primary school Teacher at Eagles Wings Children’s Village. “Being an agent of transformation means learning how to handle and lead adults in learning and aid people to see that they have resources that they could utilize to get out of their economic situations. I am going to champion initiatives with the children I teach to help them develop their talents regardless of their academic performance.”

Groups and churches that have welcomed our Bible interpretation modules have with open arms embraced the 'Transformational Development' training which is changing lives and attitudes of people towards holistic development, mending and healing the four relationships between: God and Man; Man and himself; Man and other human beings; and Man and creation.
