PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to March! March is filled with course requesting activities and preparations for standardized testing in April.  Be sure to check out the 18-19 Course Request Guide to assist your high school student with their selection of their courses for the next school year.  This guide can be accessed on the EGRHS Guidance Office website.  Students will select courses using Skyward Student Access during this month.  All requests must be finalized by Spring Break (March 29, 2018).  Changes after this time are not possible.

LEADERSHIP AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Approximately 140 EGRHS students from our TEAM, STEP, and TATU groups visited EGRMS and elementary schools in February. Leading sessions on active listening, conflict resolution, bullying, peer pressure, and the dangers of e-cigarettes, LYD students worked excitedly with our district's youth and showcased the special community our schools share. Our high school student leaders are eager to improve their skills and to continue building bridges with district youth next year. Students interested in exploring EGRHS' LYD programs should contact Mr. Kawel.

SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

As a reminder senior students must complete 4 hours of a learning experience(s), as required by the State of Michigan. It can be one experience or separate experiences totaling 4 hours. To document the hours seniors must complete the Google Form found on the guidance web-page. The form may only be submitted once, and is due by Thursday, March 29, 2018. Completion of two Saturday school sessions on April 21 and April 28 are required if a senior's form isn’t received.

Here are a few examples of a learning experience:
  • College visit(s)
  • Job Shadowing
  • Volunteer at a local organization – food pantry, church, library, rec dept, nursing/retirement home
  • Any volunteering outside of normal school hours
Please contact Shelly Boeve in the guidance office if you have any questions.

VARIETY SHOW

The EGRHS Variety Show is March 16 and 17 in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $6 general admission and the show starts at 7:30 each night. With great music, dance, and comedy, this year's Variety Show will be one to remember.
