Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of ASB School,

Happy Spring!  The sunshine this week is definitely making for a lovely shift to the new season.  It is also a lovely way to usher in the end of our Lenten season as we look forward to Holy Week and the celebration of Easter.  On Monday, our students gathered in their school families to discuss an important part of the Lenten journey: forgiveness.  Students discussed the importance of letting go of the things that upset us or hurt us and extending forgiveness.  They brainstormed what forgiveness looks like and sounds like, and each family made a promise to extend forgiveness during this last part of Lent.  What an important lesson for all of us.

Last Friday, our faculty and staff gathered in retreat and professional development.  One of the focus points of our morning was the Paschal Mystery: the passion, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus.  As we head into Holy Week, I would like to share the following reflection questions that we used on Friday.  It is always good to pause and reflect on what our faith is calling us to do.
  • Where am I living out the Paschal Mystery?  How am I experiencing the small deaths and resurrections of my daily life?
  • How are these moments impacting my relationship with Jesus?
  • What aspects of my life are in need of a death and resurrection?  What needs to die in order for something else to rise?
  • How do we, as a school, experience good that has emerged from suffering or tragedy?

Thank you to everyone who attended our State of the School meetings last night and this morning.  It was wonderful to connect with everyone, celebrate what we have accomplished this year, and look forward to what the coming year will bring.  If you were unable to attend, please be sure to set a time to meet with me as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful rest of the week and a glorious weekend.  Let’s pray the sunshine sticks around!

All my best,
Kathleen

I am in the process of finalizing the Camp ASB calendar and KinderCamp information and plan to make both available to families next week.  Both of these pieces of information will be posted on the ASB School Website and will be include in the March 28 Newsletter.  I am very excited to announce that this summer Annie Hawksford and Suzanna Olsen, the kindergarten teachers at ASB, will be running KinderCamp.  It will be an amazing opportunity for our incoming kindergarten students to attend KinderCamp that is being taught by the current kindergarten teachers, which is not always the case.

Thank you to Annie Hawksford and Suzanna Olsen!

Camp ASB will open Tuesday, June 5 and will CLOSE the week of the 4th of July, we will also stay open a week longer, staying open into the first week of August.  These are changes to the normal schedule of Camp ASB and they are changes that we think are important to accommodate the longer summer vacation and the construction that will be taking place on campus.  Camp ASB will remain in its usual home this summer, the PAC/FAFC/Gym area at ASB.  We are in the process of planning and coordinating around the construction project, to ensure the safety of our students and our program.  There may be some changes to pick up and drop-off, students and staff will spend more time off campus, and we are preparing ourselves for the unexpected.  Please make sure to review the summer prepayment schedule included in the registration forms, as it will help relay the dates that Camp ASB will be open this summer.

The 2018 Summer Calendar and KinderCamp information will be available by Spring Break, April 2018.
