Welcome Spring!  It's time to review the many things happening at INSPIRE Sheboygan County.

Last  summer we shared the key metrics of success and we continue to monitor those metrics closely! This year we have grown in many ways and continue to help our students connect to local companies.

The image on the right captures our data this year.  Please note data from 2016-17 represents the entire years worth of data, while this year include the first half of the year only!

We are continuing to grow and look forward to finishing out this year strong!

Our annual planning meeting date has been set for May 11th. At this meeting we will determine the action items for our strategic plan, your input is critical to this process.

Youth Co-ops

By the end of this year, 48 students will have participated in over 60 co-op positions with local companies. As the program gains traction within schools, one participant points out what many of us already know,

the experiences that I was exposed to have been priceless and were a great learning opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed this program and I believe that schools undervalue programs like these [and how important they] are to students and the students’ futures.” Joel Kos, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Co-op participant at Van Horn and Kohler

2018-19 planning is underway and we are piloting a "5th Quarter Placement- Summer Co-ops!". The addition of these positions will increase the number of opportunities for students by approximately 30 placements.

Applications for summer and 1st quarter will be accepted until April 25th. The required parent/guardian information night will take place at American Orthodontics on April 23rd from 6:30-8:00pm. Many employers will be on hand to talk with students and their families about the positions they offer.

Career Experiences

This school year we piloted a Work-Based Learning activity called Career Experiences. This activity is a re-engineered version of job shadowing and allows for students to visit a company, connect with a mentor and see if the career matches their interest.

This year, we have had over 100 students register to attend a session at various companies and here is some feedback from students:

"My career experience with the aviation department at Kohler was an outstanding experience! All of the guys there were great and helped me learn a lot. The insight they provided will undoubtedly benefit me in the future. Thank you for making this experience possible!”

“It was great! I loved being able to watch a live photo shoot and the overall energy was a big contributor to my enjoyment.”

New North Update

INSPIRE Sheboygan County is leading the New North region through the planning to develop a regional INSPIRE for the 18 counties. Our work will include strategic planning with a regional team of 15 members. The goal of this planning is to determine what a regional structure of INSPIRE will look like and how to onboard new deployments to ensure success.

The work will begin at the end of the month and will conclude over the summer. Stay tuned to learn more about the results.
