Curatorial Curriculum
Call for applications
Grand Union’s Curatorial Curriculum is an alternative learning programme for emerging curators. Over four intensive weekend-workshops participants will explore different forms of curatorial practice.
The course is aimed at early-career curators, to offer an alternative programme to costly postgraduate study in a slightly less formal environment.
The 2018 sessions will be as follows:
25–27 May: Curating in Birmingham led by Birmingham-based curators, organisations and artists
August: Curating in Conversation led by Sophia Yadong Hao
September: Curating in Learning led by Janna Graham
October: Curating in Publics led by Annie Fletcher
Fees and bursaries
The course fee is £275, which covers four sessions and lunches.
In partnership with Engine, we are able to offer four free places on the course for West Midlands-based curators.
In partnership with Beatfreeks, we are able to offer one free place to a young (under 25) Birmingham-based curator.
In partnership with ASTONish and RE:present we are able to offer one free place to one of their alumi.
Deadline: Sunday 8 April 2018

Curatorial Curriculum 2017 publication
We created Curatorial Curriculum to open up support for curators beyond our gallery programme, whilst finding ways to nurture our own practices.
We invited an incredible group of curators to lead the sessions, who have brought their vast experience and expertise, along with an affinity to our approach.
This publication has been created by 2017’s cohort in order to document and share some of our learning.
