ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Donald D. Searle serves as the Architectural Services Manager for the Dept. of Public Works, responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and managing administrative and fiscal aspects of the County's facility capital improvement program and facility operations. Prior to joining Monterey County, he served as a Project Manager at a community college district in Southern California and as an architect and firm principal in the Northeast for over two decades.
Donald has certification from the National Council of Architectural Review Boards, is a LEED Accredited Professional, and possesses architectural licensure in the United States and Canada. He has Bachelor of Design and Master of Architecture degrees from Clemson University and conducted graduate studies at the Charles E. Daniel Center for Urban Research in Genoa, Italy.

- 2017 Preservationist of the Year Award Announced: Peter Hiller, who wrote the National Register Nomination for the County Courthouse in Salinas with its Jo Mora art. Mr. Hiller is the Jo Mora Trust Collection Curator and author of the upcoming book about his adventures On the Jo Mora Trail.

The Cooper-Molera Adobe signage decision by Monterey's Historic Preservation Committee will allow the owners to paint over the public mural and apply commercial signage 5x larger than the size allowed for any building facade.
