ALL THANKS TO THE MILLENNIAL FOODIES

Food and beverages are simply daily necessities for most people, but the millennial foodie has opened the eyes of the public to take a closer look into the commodity. Looking into the sources and procedures of foods is meaningless to some, but recently it has been making radical changes among consumers. Raising awareness of where their food and drinks come from and the process involved, gives transparency to where products come from. Today, companies selling food with social purposes or unique artistic touches attract, not only one-purchase consumers, but loyal long-term customers.

A MILLENNIAL FASHION LINE

H&M has officially announced the launch of their sub-brand, Nyden, aiming to provide millennials with a luxurious, but affordable fashion line. The worldwide company features millennial influencers from a variety of creative industries as co-creators of the brand. These influencers are essential to ensure that Nyden truly resonates with the target audience. Creative director, Oscar Olsson, believes that fashion should be influenced by the public, and not shaped by designers. Producing products in limited quantities and carefully chosen fabrics, H&M is more than excited to release Nyden early 2018.

TIPS & TRICKS

THE MILLENNIAL DISCLOSURE

Salaries have always been a hush-hush matter. It’s embarrassing to disclose such personal information, but millennials have reason to eliminate this taboo. They hold working ethics which recreate a new image of salaries at the workplace. Studies hosted by Deloitte reveal that today, young employees prioritise equality, transparency and working in a comfortable environment, instead of climbing up the corporate ladder. By having different career goals, these employees no longer have reasons to compete at the workplace with their salaries.

LAW & ORDER WITH MILLENNIALS

Insights from an independent research show that working at law firms isn’t appealing for millennials anymore. The novelty and prestige of climbing to the top as a lawyer is not what millennial lawyers want. Law firms are where law students kick off their careers, it’s a good start to obtain experience and a good name on their resumes, but it’s not the ideal destination anymore. This change could be due to the traditional structure of the sector, which hasn’t adapted to innovative changes. By restructuring and reshaping, law firms could restore the attractiveness of their opportunities for potential lawyers to obtain whole new experiences which aspire them to stay.

CAPTURING THE MILLENNIAL FOMO MOMENT

Putting aside the ownership of cars and houses, millennials put their focus on travelling. According to Bloomberg, Asian millennials are bringing in a new agenda for tourism. New adventures are one thing, but what they are looking for is the ideal Instagram moment you can show on your social media. Tourist destinations are starting to catch up to the popular use of social media and are adjusting their perks to attract more visitors. They are using a new marketing strategy called “FOMO Marketing.” Travel photography isn’t about the background anymore, it’s about putting the signature touch in the foreground.

Indonesia’s Menoreh Hills, started in 2008, recently converted their daring destination into a social media-worthy spotlight. Their attraction provides visitors a photographer who can capture the “perfect moment.” Their popularity skyrocketed afterwards. As a result, Menoreh Hills decided to construct another platform above the protected forest for visitors to enjoy.

MEET US IN NEW YORK

Next week our founder Andrea is speaking in New York at the Brands and Innovation Conference organised by the International Trademark Association. Andrea will be speaking about the concepts and implications of the link between brand value and innovation. We often hear about the importance of trademarks, brand value and innovation in businesses. However, we overlook the causal link between brands and innovation. Andrea will be present with two other experts during this session, discussing how reframe the discussion on the links between trademarks and brand values, and how trademarks relate to unmeasurable intangible assets. Tune in for exciting insights!
