It is our pleasure to announce the call for nominations for the 2018-2019 Women’s Center awards, grants, and scholarships, with a deadline of Friday, June 1, at 4:30 p.m. Each of these awards honor the engagement, contributions, and leadership of University faculty, staff, or students. Unless otherwise noted, awards are open to students, staff, and faculty system-wide. Awardees are recognized at the annual Celebrating Changemakers Awards program held on campus each fall.

Faculty and Staff Awards

Sara Evans Faculty Woman Scholar/Leader Award -- recognizes women faculty at the Twin Cities campus who have achieved significant national and international accomplishments and honors and who contribute to campus as leaders.

Ada Comstock Distinguished Women Scholars Award -- honors the scholarly accomplishments of distinguished women faculty at the University of Minnesota. The 2018 award will go to a scholar from the sciences or engineering.

Charlotte Striebel Equity Award -- recognizes contributions from faculty and staff of any gender who promote access for the common good, help undo bias and discrimination, or build capacity for diverse and equitable campus communities.

Mullen/Spector/Truax Women's Leadership Award -- honors a faculty or staff woman at the University who has made outstanding contributions to women's leadership development.
 

Student Scholarships and Awards

Carol E. Macpherson Memorial Scholarship -- established in Carol’s memory to assist women who are 28-years-old and over in returning to school and completing their education at the University. (Learn more about the history of the Macpherson Scholarship.) 

Dr. Nancy “Rusty” Barceló Scholarship --  assists University of Minnesota women students with financial need in completing their education at the University, with a special focus on women of color, new immigrants, and first generation college students. 

Sharon L. Doherty Student Leadership Award -- given to a University of Minnesota student who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service concerning women's issues on campus or in the broader community.
 

Campus-Wide: Gender Equity Grants

Women's Center Gender Equity Grants seek to support a more inclusive, diverse University community with an enhanced campus climate for women faculty, staff, and students. Gender Equity Grants are intended to foster and support increased awareness, improved understanding, and institutional change. (Includes grant funding for projects specifically focused on changing the climate for P & A and/or CS/BU women).
