This is an exciting opportunity for young people to be publicly acknowledged for the many positive contributions they make to our community. The Awards will also enable young people to recognise and publicly thank youth workers, coaches, teachers or any other professionals who have supported or inspired them to make a positive difference in their lives.

The NDIS has rolled out in the Mid North Coast. Local Area Coordinators (LACs) are here to support you with your transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). One way we can help is by offering an initial 20-minute consultation where you can ask us questions about the scheme.

The Kindness Project

Help celebrate International Happiness Day by joining the North Coast TAFE Community Services students at Toormina Gardens Shopping Centre on Thursday, 29th March from 10am to 1.30pm. There will be lots of fun activities for everyone as well as the opportunity for people to have their say about Toormina and what they’d like to see happening in their community as part of the Get Connected Toormina project.

Youth Frontiers 2018

Youth Frontiers is a state-wide mentoring program for young people aged 12-16 years. Local volunteer adult mentors are matched with young people and provide 35 hours of mentoring over a period of at least six months. With the support of their mentors, participants connect with their communities by undertaking a community engagement activity of their choice, such as volunteering, fundraising, or a creative project.

Be Chill Workshops

Headspace Port Macquarie are trying out the new angle of a ‘stress management’ group called Be Chill (named by the headspace Youth Reference Group). They are having a Be Chill Intro Workshop For Young People on Thursday 12th April between 4pm - 5:30pm, and an Intro session for parents / family between 5:30-6:30pm.

YPS’s Meat Raffle is held every week at ‘That PLaYce’ Café in Kempsey. Tickets can be purchased from Monday to Friday mornings from the Café & the raffle is drawn Fridays. All money raised goes to YPS to support them in their work to end youth homelessness in the local community so please spread the word.

NSW Government launches Youth Employment Innovation Challenge 

The NSW Government has launched the Youth Employment Innovation Challenge, which will offer $10 million to fund innovative solutions and ideas that help young people find employment in NSW. The challenge will focus on youth unemployment hotspots, including the Central Coast/Hunter, Illawarra, North Coast, New England/North West, Southern Highlands/Shoalhaven and Western Sydney regions. Successful applicants will be able to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and undergo business-ready training with an experienced incubation partner. Applications are now open and will close on 10th April 2018.
