Do you have difficulty with your child refusing to come to school? Do you want to learn what might be "red flags" that show your child might benefit from professional help? Do you want to learn about the new Second Step curriculum or what support exists in the middle school at Peterson? Do you want to find out about resources in our community?
Please plan to join us for our first-ever Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Night next Thursday, March 22nd from 5:15-7:00 p.m. We will have information about what kids are learning and experiencing at Peterson as well as a number of organizations sharing their expertise.
A free dinner and door prizes will begin at 5:15 - please enter through the Cafeteria. Mr. Coleman and Ms. Martino will provide a brief overview of the counseling program at Peterson, and then breakout sessions will begin at 5:55. Both Arabic and Spanish interpreters will be available at the event.
Choose from sessions for parents including: Child & Adolescent Mental Health & When to Seek Professional Help (with The Kedzie Center presented in English & Spanish); Art Therapy (with Mosaic Therapy); Positive Discipline (with SEL Chicago); Services for Refugee Families (with Asian Human Services); An Overview of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with Primary Grades; and An Overview of SEL for Middle Schoolers & the Mentor Program at Peterson.
We will also have a resource fair to get more information about community resources including Asian Human Services, Tuesday's Child, Albany Park Community Center, and more!
