Did you know St Patrick's Day is an official holiday in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador? We did not, but it seems like a perfectly find discussion starter over a pint of stout and some Irish-infused music with a couple of lads from the old country.
Folk roots guitarist Terry Boyle lives in Ladysmith by way of Dublin and keeps his Irish folk roots alive thanks to visits from his musical friend, uilleann piper Martin Nolan who still resides in Ireland.
Uilleann pipes are the softer, sweeter, more expressive cousin of the traditional bagpipes. Martin is an internationally renowned piper who has played at the Lincoln Centre for the Arts in New York, the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and London's National Theatre.
