Alpine Spring!

We had a chilly few weeks in the Alps, with the Beast from the East dropping temperatures down to a teeth chattering -26C. Great news for the ice climbing conditions, but now the temperatures have climbed to the seasonal averages, and it's the start of the Alpine Spring season, where we look forward to ski touring, snowshoeing, and Alpine climbing.

Live course availability

 Haute Route

The most famous ski tour in the world is the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt (link). The Haute Route is earned. It's not a classic for nothing. It's a challenge. It gets under your skin. Now is time to scratch that itch, and to tick this beast. Trip film; link. This is your last call to tick this tour off your bucket list, as we have just 3 remaining weeks with space this year; 1 - 8 Apr, 8 - 15 Apr, 15 - 22 Apr 2018. The week costs £1199 including 6 days guiding, and half board in the huts, as well as two nights in Chamonix.

 Epic ice climbs

The cold temperatures brought the Alpine icefalls into perfect conditions, and we've guided many teams in the past weeks in Chamonix and the Val de Cogne. If you are still keen to learn ice climbing this winter, book the Winter Intro course (link) running 25 - 31 March 2018. £899 inc guiding and accommodation.

 Snowshoeing

It's the peak of season for our snowshoeing teams, and there's been a great range of routes and summits in the bag. The avalanche risks have been quite high, not a big surprise considering the once in a generation snow depths, and the guiding team have worked hard to choose safe areas (link).

 Cham Off Piste

Join our Chamonix level 2 off piste week running 25 - 31 March 2018, and ski some of the classic lines in the Mont Blanc massif. The trip costs £799 for 5 days IFMGA ski guiding, and your B&B self-catered accommodation in Chamonix. There's currently 3 spaces still available (link).

 Winter trail runs

Winter snows haven't been stopping the trail runners. If anything, it's luring them out in greater numbers than ever before! We still have 2 spaces on our Chamonix weekend trip (link) on 6 - 8 April 2018, which for £299 includes two days guiding and accommodation. Here's a blog post from our lead guide (link).

 Intro Ski Touring

If you want to learn how to push further into the backcountry, then ski touring is key. Many people have a dream of one of the classic hut-to-hut ski tours such as the Silvretta or Haute Route, and this is the springboard. We've two options for you to consider, both based in Chamonix Mont Blanc, either a weekend 30 Mar - 1 Apr (£399 link), or the full week 8 - 14 April (£799 link).

 Winter on Toubkal

It's not just the Alps and UK that have seen massive snowfalls. Above is the summit of Mount Toubkal in the Moroccan Atlas mountains, with the summit pyramid plastered in snow and frost. The winter ascent of Toubkal is a great challenge, which doesn't require any previous mountaineering experience. Our next trip dates are; 31 Mar - 7 Apr, 14 - 20 Apr, 26 May - 2 Jun 2018 (link).
